The French automaker’s fourth product will be the Basalt.

Expected On August 2, 2024, Citroen will introduce their newest vehicle, a coupe-SUV called the Citroen Basalt. The C-Cubed programme from Citroen, which began with the C3 hatchback, eC3 all-electric hatchback, and C3 Aircross SUV, ends with this car.

  1. Future Tata Curvv to be directly rivalled by Citroen Basalt.
  2. Citroen Basalt coming with a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 110 horsepower.

Design and Expected Features:

With its unique look, which largely references its sibling, the C3 Aircross, the Citroën Basalt stands out. But with a sloping roofline, dual-tone alloy wheels, and a unique front grille, it presents a sportier look. The vehicle’s sturdy dual-tone bumper and wraparound LED taillamps enhance its tough appearance from the back.

Expectations are high inside, despite Citroën’s lack of interior revelations. The Basalt is probably going to have a digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, cruise control, automatic climate control, wireless charging, keyless entry and go, and a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is believed that these features would elevate the Basalt to a well-rounded choice within its category.

Engines and Performance:

The engine of the Citroen C3 Aircross is expected to be borrowed by the Basalt as well. This translates to a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine that should produce between 101 and 205 Nm of torque.Either an automatic torque converter or a manual gearbox will be equipped to this engine.

Market Position and Expected Pricing:

In its product lineup, Citroën intends to place the Basalt above the C3 Aircross. Its initial price is expected to be between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 12 lakh. The Tata Curvv, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, and other mid-size SUVs are direct competitors of the Basalt due to its price approach. At Citroën’s Thiruvallur facility in Tamil Nadu, local manufacture is anticipated to assist maintain competitive costs while ensuring quick market availability

Strategic Significance:

An essential component of Citroën’s C-Cubed strategy, which aims to increase the brand’s presence in key markets including South America and India, is the Basalt. Citroën hopes to gain a substantial portion of the expanding SUV market in these areas by launching the Basalt and using its unique style and cutting-edge capabilities to appeal to a younger, more fashion-conscious demographic.

With its attractive design, cutting-edge features, and affordable price, the Citroën Basalt is expected to offer a new and exciting option for buyers seeking an SUV-coupe. It could make a big impact in the mid-size SUV market as its release date draws near. As always, all eyes will be on the new model’s performance and how well it meets the needs of buyers in its intended markets.
